Switzerland - The Swiss department of justice supports efforts to include FGM in the Swiss penal code as a criminal offence in its own right. The envisaged law would make it possible to persecute offenders even if they have performed FGM outside of Switzerland and regardless of whether this practice constitutes a criminal offence in the country where it was performed.
