VIENNA – For the last 30 years the famous Austrian actress Elfriede Ott stages every summer another Nestroy play at the Maria Enzersdorfer Festival in Austria. Every year Ott and her ensemble are collecting donations for a good purpose, this year they are supporting the Desert Flower Foundation, to help millions of girls and women who are affected by FGM.
“We need firm statements, laws without loopholes, effective protection of children, coverage in vocational training, specific prevention and cross-border exchange -co-operation worldwide to abolish FGM” said Waris who visited the festival on her tour through Austria and threw light on this issue. With her sons Aleeke and Leon she came to see the play and gave autographs.
Every summer an enchanting world of theater arises for five weeks. Ott´s way of staging Nestroy is well known, kind of shrill and playful. Principal and stage Director Ott creates freedom, light-heartedness and joie de vivre. This year the play is called “Umsonst” and takes place from July 26th 2012 to August 19th 2012 at the Liechtenstein Castle.
