Possible new country on the FGM map of the world: Brazil!

It is just incredible. We have been working against FGM for decades already. You would think that the occurrence of FGM would have decreased during this long time span, that people would be more informed and we could cross several countries off the FGM-map.

Of course there are also success stories, even big ones: more and more governments are deciding to legally ban FGM. Several top Muslim clerics have raised their voices against FGM. Many local projects are being carried out successfully.

But as soon as an e-mail from a supporter informs me that FGM is still practised in regions we have never even heard of, I feel a twinge deep in my heart. Last year I found out that FGM was also practised on Bosnian women. And today I received an e-mail from Brazil: apparently there is also a tribe there which practises FGM. We are now naturally looking for any information that could help us. Please help us research and send us every hint, no matter how small, which might be of importance!
