In Berlin Catherine Deneuve promised me her support.

As from now Catherine Deneuve will support our battle. With combined forces we can change a lot!

On the very next day of my trip to Berlin we were invited to the glamorous “Cinema for Peace”-Gala.

Among various international film stars, politicians and other celebrities, I was particularly impressed by a true grande-dame of the film industry: Catherine Deneuve.

She had heard my speech the day before and gave me her opinion: she was truly horrified about the number of FGM victims world-wide. She was particularly distressed about only recently having found out about the real extent of this violation of human rights. She immediately insisted that a lot more should be done against FGM.

The dedicated Diva’s praise for my battle touched me a lot. I am happy to have found a comrade-in-arms in Catherine Deneuve, who has long since used her celebrity status for fighting against the discrimination of women.
