Great success: FGM declined in Sierra Leone

Desert Flower Foundation program throughout the country

Our little Desert Flowers

Since the 18th century FGM is practiced in Sierra Leone. The ones who are responsible for this cruel practice are so-called secret societies, like the Bondo Society, which brings together around 50, 000 circumcisers. Until now, politicians were powerless against these groups. Thanks to the work of the Desert Flower Foundation and other organizations FGM is declining. More and more parents refuse to expose their daughters to this brutal and meaningless ritual.

Here you can see some photos of our "Save a Little Desert Flower" program taken in several parts of the country.

Please support us with your donation and help to completely eradicate FGM!
