Standing ovations for Desert Flower in Essen and Berlin:
the German premieres in Essen and Berlin were a great success for waris Dirie, the producer Peter Herrmann and the director Sherry Hormann and the fantastic cast of the movie. Ethiopian supermodel Liya Kebede, who plays Waris as an adult, the fantastic Somali girl Soraya Scego, who plays Waris Dirie as a child, Timothy Spall, who plays Terence Donovan, the British celebrity fotographer who discovered Waris Dirie, and the terrific Greg Parkinson, who plays Waris British husband Neil got standing ovations and fantastic reviews in the German media.
The movie will be shown in Munich as a charity event for the Waris Dirie foundation on tuesday (September 15th). On September 16th, the movie will open the Oldenbourg Film Festival in Germany. On the 21st of September, it will be played at the San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain. On the 24th of September, it will be presented at the Zurich Film Festival in Switzerland. The Austrian premiere will take place in Vienna on October 5th. On October 10th, the movie will be shown at the Hamptons International Film Festival New York. In November, the movie will be shown at the Thessaloniki Film Festival in Greece. The international launch of Desert Flower is planned for February 2010.
