Another groundbreaking case in Europe: Parents of FGM-victim convicted in Norway.

Five girls, all of them Norwegian citizens, were mutilated by their parents from Gambia. Father imprisoned.

Norway has been heavily involved in the battle against FGM since the middle of last year. Now, for the first time, parents from Gambia, now Norwegian citizens, were given a prison-sentence. By now the father is already imprisoned, while the mother is not liable due to pregnancy. The parents had had five of their six girls genitally mutilated. The youngest, a three year old girl was spared the procedure. The court placed the children in the care of the Youth Welfare Office.

I hope these cases will force people from FGM-practicing cultures to realise that FGM is torture for small children, and is finally being punished in Europe with highly severe consequences.
