15 year ago we founded the Desert Flower Foundation in Vienna.

At this time FGM was a taboo for most people in politics, media and even for many NGOs operating in Africa, as they did not want to touch this issue.

Today, our Desert Flower Foundation is fighting FGM globally. During the last 15 years we have achieved a lot we are very proud of:

Today the media discusses FGM and even political leaders of Africa have to deal with the issue. The president of the United States and the Pope condemn FGM in public.

In 2012 the UN General Assembly has finally adopted a worldwide ban on FGM, after this had been boycotted by representatives of African, Arabic and Asiatic states for many years.

Throughout this year we want to look back and share our greatest achievements with you.

But sadly, the fight against FGM is not over!

So we have to look ahead and keep on fighting for our goals.
Our agenda is still the same:

- To educate people around the world about the facts of FGM

- To achieve the implementation of laws against FGM

- To initiate and conduct awareness-raising campaigns

- To protect millions of girls from FGM

- To help victims of FGM medically and psychologically

We have achieved all of this with your support. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Please support our fight against FGM also in the future!

Thank you so much.
