Waris Dirie is one of "5 groundbreaking models of colour who helped change the face of fashion"

The daily newspaper Irish Examiner calls Waris Dirie together with Iman, Grace Jones, Naomi Campbell, and Liu Wen as one of the supermodels that "have managed to overcome structural racism and carve a name for themselves":

Although Dirie paved the way for many other models of colour, the fashion industry wasn’t where she wanted to stay. As soon as she’d built up a big enough platform, she started campaigning against female genital mutilation – something she had undergone at the age of five.

Waris Dirie has used her fame to make herself strong for girl's and women's rights and has become an important and inspiring role model for millions of women worldwide!
