Africa Aweee School

With the opening of the Africa Aweee School in October 2022, we broke new ground for the first time, because in the fight against female genital mutilation (FGM), we also see ourselves as a bridge builder to other charitable organisations.
The construction of this school was made possible by a generous donation from the Africa Aweee Foundation, which is itself actively involved in Africa. Co-founder Lisa Boyer-Telmer explains: "As a girl, I read the book Desert Flower by Waris Dirie and was very impressed. Empowering girls and women is very important to us. The partnership with the Desert Flower Foundation means a lot to us."
Africa Aweee School
The Africa Aweee School is located in Hastings, 20 kilometres east of Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone. The school teaches 255 girls and 155 boys.
With the Art for Sierra Leone initiative, Africa Aweee also supports painting and drawing courses for pupils in Sierra Leone.
